Something amazing happens when you gather like-minded mums together. There’s this energy and deep understanding that makes you realise you aren’t alone in your struggles as a mum.

This is the feeling I got when I held my first self-care community meet-up back in 2018. The combination of mums having time for themselves away from their families for a few hours and being able to talk to like-minded mums was so powerful. 

I started these meet-ups when my daughter was 3, my son was 1 and I was recovering from postnatal anxiety. I started them because I wanted to connect with other mums who felt like me. If I was struggling, surely other mums were too?

Shouldn’t we all be talking about how we really felt instead of pretending like we were all fine? I guess I wanted to know that it wasn’t just me.

Alongside running these meet-ups, as part of my recovery from post-natal anxiety, I realised that I had to prioritise my wants and needs more. I was totally overwhelmed and exhausted through trying to do everything myself and trying to be the ‘perfect mum’.

I started by taking small steps and doing something that made me feel good everyday, even if it was just taking a few deep breaths, reading a few pages of my book while the kids were playing or using uplifting essential oils. 

Running the meet-ups and having that personal experience of really finding motherhood tough made me realise that I wanted to work with mums professionally, to support overwhelmed mums to feel happier and calmer.

So, I re-trained as a Coach in 2019 and qualified in December 2020. Fast forward to 2023, and it’s my mission to help as many mums as possible to feel happier and live a life that feels good to them. 

I had my 3rd child in 2022, and my experience of motherhood the third time around has been so much more enjoyable, because I’ve made sure to include my own needs, as well as my kids, this time around. 

Now, I’m excited to combine my personal experience of the ups and downs of life as a mum of three, along with my professional experience of coaching and running events to tell you about my Mini Retreat for Mums!

What’s the Mini Retreat for Mums all about?

Come along to my brand-new Mini Retreat for Mums on Saturday 18th November 2023 from 2:00-5:00pm at Yurt in the City, Cardiff.

You’ll enjoy three hours packed with meditations, journalling and group coaching at this unique afternoon retreat, designed especially for mums who struggle to find time for themselves.

At the retreat you’ll;

  • Feel grounded and soothed as you listen to the meditations I’ve designed especially for mums
  • Get clarity on your thoughts and feelings by journalling 
  • Harness the back to school and new moon energy by setting intentions for the rest of the month with group coaching 
  • Enjoy honest conversations with like-minded mums and realise you aren’t alone in your struggles in motherhood 

As well as refreshments, yoga mats are provided for your comfort.

All you need to do is bring your lovely self, wear comfy clothes and I’ll take care of the rest!

  • Journalling – is super cathartic and it means you can honour your thoughts and feelings instead of letting them swirl around in your head. You’ll be able to see situations that you are struggling with from a different, kinder perspective. It helps you see that you know the answers and you know what you need, you just need the time and space to work it out.
  • Group coaching – you’ll feel listened to being in the presence of like-minded mums who are going through the same struggles as you. You’ll feel motivated and inspired by setting intentions for the month ahead.

More about your host…

Jenna Folarin is Coach who supports mums with young kids to go from feeling overwhelmed and exhausted to feeling calmer and happier.

Jenna qualified as a Coach in 2020 through The Coaching Academy and also trained in Mindfulness for Mums through 10 of Zen in 2019. 

Jenna also hosts ‘The Inspiring Mums Podcast which gives mums practical tips on how to make positive changes in their lives.

As well as coaching, Jenna has created and delivered well-being workshops for Cardiff University and set up a monthly self-care group for mums in her local community.

Jenna lives in South Wales with her husband and 3 children and once her kids are finally asleep, she loves reading romance books or crocheting a huge colourful blanket.
